Lee is, of course, under the close supervision of several doctors. He has a cardiologist (obviously), plus an endocrinologist who specializes in lipids. In my mind, the cardiologist keeps an eye on the parts, while the endocrinologist keeps an eye on the numbers. He’s the one who orders all the sophisticated bloodwork, and knows all about the latest drug studies. All of these hotshot doctors like having Lee as a patient, because he’s so young (no, it’s not because he’s funny–don’t listen to him) and presents an interesting, challenging case.
Anyway, he gets bloodwork done every year, and he got his latest results back last week.
Get this:
triglycerides: 15
hdl:50
ldl: 64
total cholesterol: 117
Now, as I’ve said before, he takes cholesterol-lowering medication (a statin, plus niacin), so we expect his lipids to be in the healthy range, but even so–those numbers are fantastic.
All those doctors who talk about eating healthy and exercising? They’re not just making that stuff up. It works.

Wow! That is fantastic. I just took a look at my most recent bloodwork results…
Hi Lisa!!
It’s Rachel, your nanny from oh so many years ago! I realize this is a random place to put this message to you but for some reason my computer would not let me send you a message through the more conventional method of this blog. So, here it is!
This afternoon I was just randomly wondering what you all were up to and I found this blog on google! How nice to have found you
It’s so fun to hear about the whole family. I truly can’t believe how old Toby and Delaney are-must mean I’m getting old too.
Dave and I have had a busy life since our days at NCSU. We moved back from Florida in 2005 and have both been back to school TWICE since then. Insane, I know. I will graduate in Dec from Elon University and I will be a physical therapist. I can hardly wait! Dave got up on engineering and decided to pursue a career in healthcare too. He was nurse in the ICU at UNC for several years and is now in the last year of his master’s to become a nurse anesthetist. We will really be glad to be done with school soon-FINALLY! No kids for us just yet, but eventually.
Anyway, I just wanted to say hello and that I look forward to keeping up with you guys through reading your blog.
Hugs to you all,
Rachel
