I talk a good game about eating whole, healthy food, buying locally, and avoiding processed junk. I insist you have to go pick your own strawberries.
And then I tell you to put Splenda on them.
Yep, I said that. And the crunchy-granola organic folks are shaking their fingers at me, while the foodies are turning up their noses at me.
I don’t really care. Yes, I use artificial sweetener, and I’m not ashamed to admit it.
You’re welcome to try and convince me that it’s bad for my health, but I’ll just politely ignore you. Being fat is worse for my health. I’ve seen bypass surgery–one direct result of obesity–up close and personal. No thank you.
And you’re also welcome to try and convince me that it tastes bad. I’m not buying that, either. I have a ferocious sweet tooth. I want my iced tea–and lots of it–cloying. If I put enough sugar in the tea to make it taste the way I like it, I’d be as big as the side of a house.
Principles are nice and all, but I am nothing if not pragmatic. So don’t bother telling me about how careful you are to avoid artificial sweeteners. Get over yourself.

I am a Splenda girl myself too, it taste so good. It takes less of it then sugar to make things taste how I like.
And I have such an awful sweet tooth–I like EVERYTHING sweet.
