Wandering around Asheville last week, I came upon a sign that struck me as a great idea:
It’s a simple message, but it’s better than a lot of public health initiatives, I think, simply because it’s usable. Right there: follow the arrow, and you’ll walk a mile. No time like the present, right? Just hop on the purple route and go.
So I did:
It’s right there, in the middle of downtown, where people are walking around all day long, every day. Just a friendly little reminder to think about your health, in a place where you might not otherwise.
You can even incorporate your exercise with your sightseeing expedition (which, in my opinion, is the whole point of sightseeing).
I think there might be another route–some color other than purple. I’ll go look for that one tomorrow.
